The first session involves assessment and observation, and is usually booked at home, so you can see if The Teachie Speechie is a good fit for your family. At the end of the session, a plan will be in place regarding what ongoing therapy will look like. Sessions are then booked in advance at a frequency that meets your child’s needs and takes into consideration your family’s commitments.

The Teachie Speechie offers consulting and professional development services to school and childcare staff, including support with speech and language development in education settings, mealtime safety, and inclusion practices for children with developmental concerns or disabilities.
Initial sessions are usually 60 min in duration, and ongoing sessions are usually 30 min or 45 min. On top of the face-to-face time with your child, 15 min is allocated to reporting back to families, preparing resources, and/or communicating with education staff.
It is a good idea to take your child to the GP before our initial session, to see if your child may be eligible for a Medicare plan, which can offer some subsidised sessions for the year. Alternatively, your private health insurance may give you a rebate for sessions. The Teachie Speechie can see plan-managed or self-managed NDIS participants.
If you notice your child having difficulty with speech clarity, understanding instructions, talking in full sentences, interacting with others, playing, or learning at school, it may be helpful to consult a speech pathologist.
